A clock hour is defined as a minimum of 50 minutes of supervised or directed instruction and appropriate breaks.

A quarter credit is defined as a minimum of 12 weeks of supervised or directed instruction. and appropriate breaks.

The course numbering system uses a six digit alphanumeric identifier. The prefixes are characters that represent the type of course, and the suffices are numbers that represent didactic (101) or scanning (102) portions of the program.

CPR Training

All students will receive CPR training while enrolled in the Florida Institute of Ultrasound. This will be done during the didactic portion of the program

  Short-Term Programs

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Abdomen, Obstetrics & Gynecology, andUltrasound Physics: This six-month program is designed to teach students in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology and ultrasound physics. This course is recommended for those who already have had training in ultrasound. It is designed to cross train sonographers into another modality. DETAILS

This six-month program is designed to teach students in the areas of vascular and echocardiography. This course is recommended for those who already have had training in ultrasound. It is set up to cross train sonographers into another modality. DETAILS

Clinical Rotation:  All students will be required to rotate to various clinical affiliates for practical experience and observation on a schedule basis. These affiliates have a wide variety of equipment and procedures which are a vital part of the student's education.

Registry: The Florida Institute of Ultrasound, Inc. recommends all graduates become registered sonographers. Most of our graduates fall under ARDMS prerequisite 1 (footnote 1) or prerequisite 3A. All of the prerequisites are listed on the ARDMS website.
